Pertuzumab is a prescription used to treat certain types of breast cancer. It is a type of monoclonal antibody. Monoclonal antibodies are man-made proteins that mimic the antibodies found in the body. Pertuzumab works by binding to a protein called HER2 on the surface of cancer cells. This helps to block the growth and spread of cancer cells.

Pertuzumab is given as an intravenous (IV) infusion. The infusion is usually given over a period of 60 minutes.

The usual starting dose is 420 mg, followed by 210 mg every 3 weeks

Fatigue is the most common side effect, and may persist for weeks or months after treatment. Firstly, Nausea and diarrhea are also common, and may be managed with medications. Headache and infusion-related reactions are usually mild and go away on their own.

Therefore, Pertuzumab can also cause more serious side effects, such as heart problems, lung problems, and allergic reactions. These side effects are rare, but can be life-threatening. If you experience any of these side effects, call your doctor immediately.
