A classic staple of scary stories, witches are also commonly featured as Halloween costumes.

This guide to drawing a cartoon witch is all about capturing the fun side of these spooky characters!

You don’t need any spells or magical abilities to complete this guide. All you need are the steps we have prepared and your amazing creativity!

How to Draw A Cartoon Witch

Step 1

In this first step of our tutorial on how to draw a cartoon witch, we’ll start with the outlines of the head, hair, and body.

As you can see in the next few steps, we’re going to draw them in an adorable cartoon style that’s quite adorable!

You can start by drawing two curved lines for the bottom half of the face. Next, we’ll add a small round neck below his head.

For her hair, we use a jagged line that runs across the top edge and then falls sharply to the left.

Finally, draw her thick rounded sleeve with a small hand on the end and then finish with a wavy line for the side of her dress.

Step 2

Now that you’ve created some outlines, we can start drawing some details of her face and more of her body. The face is drawn in a fun and whimsical style, and it’s easy to draw too!

His eyes will be drawn as two small rounded lines, and then his mouth will be a larger curved line underneath.

We’ll also add three small lines on each cheek for extra detail. Next, you can add another round sleeve with one hand holding the handle of her broom.

This handle is straight, so you should use a ruler! Finish by drawing the bottom edge of his cape, and then we can continue.

Step 3

It would only look like a cartoon witch drawing with a big witch hat, so let’s start adding that along with some hair details now!

For the brim of her hat, draw a slightly curved line across her hair. Next, draw some wavy lines from this edge on either side of her to show where her hair falls.

Adding wavy lines within the outline of the hair creates texture.

Step 4

This witch needs her broom ready, and that’s what we’re going to do in this step! Before we finish the broomstick, let’s first draw two thin, rounded shapes underneath its coat.

These will be her legs, and each will have a straight line through them to show where her shoes are.

The broomstick’s end has curved lines that fan out at the base and are held together by a rounded band.

The top half of the end of the broomstick is thick and rounded, with a few straight lines drawn across the top and bottom.

The reference image will clarify this so we can add some fine detail and finishing touches in the next step.

Step 5

You can now finish the drawing before adding some colours to your creation in the final step of the how to draw a cartoon witch guide!

We will finish her hat in this step, and what a beautiful hat it is! The rest of the brim will be thick, rounded, and wide above her head.

Then there will be a small belt that runs over the edge. The top half of the hat is also very large and is drawn with some wavy curved lines with a pointed tip at the end.

Once you’ve finished the hat, you can add more details too! You could create a spooky background for some ideas or add some objects that you might associate with a witch.

Step 6

You’ve reached the final stages of your cartoon witch drawing, and now we can bring it to life with a few colours!
