This step-by-step how-to-draw beach tutorial lets you draw your beautiful beach landscapes quickly.
How to Draw A Beach
Step 1
For the first step of our guide on how to draw a beach, let’s start. We will make this image look like a painting, so let’s start with a simple rectangle.
You can draw it with a ruler or use a tool like a protractor to make it look perfect.
You can always draw this rectangle with a pencil if you’d rather not have a frame around your picture.
Regardless of your choice, once you’ve completed the rectangle, you’re ready for Step 2 of your beach design.
Step 2
You should use a pencil for step two of your beach drawing. Using a ruler, carefully draw a line across the rectangle.
If you use a pencil right away, leave a space about three-quarters of the way through, as we’ll be adding items to that space in the next few steps.
Step 3
You could erase the part here using a pencil to draw the horizontal line in the previous step.
The line should be erased about three-quarters of the way down, and you can use the reference image to guide where to erase it.
You can trace the remaining row that you haven’t deleted at this point if you want. Once you’re happy with the horizon line, you can draw three birds with a flat “M” shape.
Step 4
What would a tropical beach be without a few palm trees? Let’s add something to this part of your beach design to give it a great vibe!
Using the space erased in the previous step, carefully draw two palm trees with some curved lines.
They’ll be floating in the air for now, but rest assured, we’ll soon be drawing some land for them to land on!
Step 5
We’ll add the shoreline and a few more details in this next step of our guide to drawing a beach.
First, using the end of the horizon line, draw a curved line from the end down.
This shows the waves hitting the shore, and you can make them wavier or straighter depending on whether you want calmer or rougher seas.
Draw jagged lines on the right side to form a grassy outcrop on the beach sand.
Once you’ve done that, you can complete this step with a large rounded line across the left side of the horizon and then surround it with small curved lines for the sun and its rays.
Step 6
It’s almost time to colour your Bach drawing, but first, we will add some final details to the picture.
We completed our reference image using curved lines near the shore to add more wave detail at the water’s edge.
That was our final detail, but before moving on to Step 6, feel free to add as many details as you like!
This could be something like dolphins jumping out or a boat sailing on the water.
You can even change the setting by excluding the sun and adding clouds for a stormy setting!
Step 7
Now it’s time to close this tutorial on how to draw a beach with beautiful colours! This is where you can take over and show us how creative you can be with your colour choices.
We showed you how we wanted to colour this image. So while you can use it as a guide, feel free to change it with your colour choices.
You can use bright, vibrant colours for a beautiful, gorgeous day at the beach and use mediums like acrylic paint or coloured pencils to finish it off.
Or this is a calmer day at the beach, and if so, consider using cooler shades of blue and grey along with mediums like watercolours or coloured pencils for a cooler look.
